In a world of dwindling fossil fuel supplies, renewable energy sources will play an increasingly important role. Portugal has been fostering its renewable energy supplies, namely wind, solar and hydro. Enhanced Geothermal Systems play an important role on this scenario and therefore should also be promoted, has they can contribute with reliable baseload power. LNEG, the Portuguese Energy and Geology Lab is keen in promoting Enhanced Geothermal Systems. As a part of this effort a Seminar has been organized which aims to bring together interested parties, namely investors, academics, engineers, geologists, geophysicists, students, etc. A selection of presentations will address the different stages of the development of an EGS project, from geological and geophysical exploration, through reservoir characterization and stimulation, to production. Updates on ongoing EGS projects, in Portugal, Spain and France will also be presented. We sincerely hope the seminars’ program will be of interest to many. See you in Lisbon!
